Discourse analysis of some Nivea advertisements
This paper presents parts of the findings of a recent study carried out with three objectives: (1) to analyze the linguistic features of Nivea advertisements which are designed to attract customers; (2) to discover the discourse strategies used in Nivea advertisements to construct the concept of ideal beauty; and (3) to investigate the social implications of Nivea beauty product advertisements.

The author conducted a qualitative research project to see how it was designed and taught at the School of Foreign Languages. The researcher compared and analysed the course syllabus with NAATI test format, used a questionnaire and observed teachers’ classes to collect data. The findings showed a mismatch between the course’s important position and the standards by NAATI as well as the teaching methods demonstrated by the teachers.

This study investigated the congruency of the classroom management styles and teacher-student relationship as well as its influence on student learning outcomes. The classroom management styles are categorized as authoritarian, autocratic, democratic and laissez faire. The study employed the quantitative aspect which was the determination of the profile, classroom management styles, teacher-student relationship and the learning outcomes.
